Mauerpark
It is breathtaking to see a former monument of terror and death transformed into a place for children to play. From 1945 to 1989, Mauerpark, or "Wall Park," was part of a large no man's land around the Berlin Wall called a 'death strip.' Now, with the bare dirt and anti-tank ditches replaced with grass and basketball courts, it is one of the most popular parks in Berlin, attracting joggers, jugglers, musicians, and sightseers. 30 meters of the Berlin Wall still stand as a monument and a popular place for graffiti artists to ply their trade.
